August 4, 2020
Dear Road Church Friends,
After holding our first in person Sunday service in over four months I thought it would be appropriate to share my thoughts with all of you on how it went. My overall impression is that the service went very well. In addition to myself and Dave Fales who operated the video camera, we had ten members in the pews, socially distanced and wearing masks. It was a “feel good” experiences. Everyone present was happy that we were able to meet. It was good to see each other, even under these unusual circumstances. We all felt comfortable and safe under the guidelines that we are following.
It was a warm summer morning so the windows were open to let in some air, but it also let in a constant stream of road noise. It wasn’t so noticeable during the service, but when I watched the video Sunday afternoon the road noise was very distracting. The microphone on the video camera picked it up along with my voice and made it more pronounced on the recording than it was in person. Next Sunday we will close the windows when the service begins and move the camera closer to the front of the sanctuary. That should take care of the ambient noise problem.
