Dear Road Church family and friends,
Summer is here and along with it comes Father’s Day. May this summer season be a blessing to all fathers. This is my prayer for you and your families, and I include myself in it.
“We look to you, O Heavenly Father, as the true head of every family. You are a Father of infinite patience and love. We who are fathers ask that you would help us to be more loving in our homes to our wives and children. Make us thoughtful and kind in all that we do. Keep us from ill temper, and help us to be cheerful when things go wrong. May we be strong examples of faith, hope and love in our every word and deed. Amen.”
This weeks’ message is drawn from the story of Adam and Eve in Genesis 2-3. Adam is the father of us all and Eve is our mother. Their story is certainly one of the most familiar and influential ever written. This is remarkable considering its extreme brevity. It is also full of ambiguity which accounts the many different ways it has been interpreted through the centuries, and the many questions that it raises. It can be read as a story about judgment or blessing. Most of us have heard the judgment part, but not so much the blessing part. I plan to tell it as a story of blessing and a celebration of fatherhood and motherhood. I invite you to read this story and give it some thought before you tune in to listen to my Father’s Day message.
Blessings to you all,
Pastor Norm 860-759-6720 normerlendson@gmail.com
