Dear Road Church Friends,
This Sunday is the fourth week of Lent. The themes of my messages the past few weeks have been about adding things to our lives that are noble, lovely, honorable and true. So far I have talked about Forgiveness, Discipleship, and Sabbath Rest. This week’s sermon is about “Listening.”
Listening is a high Biblical priority. Sympathetic listening is a Christian virtue. Listening is a form of Loving our neighbors. Jesus’ first parable is the story of the Sower. Its theme is, “be careful how you hear.” The Sunday sermon will explore what this means.
Mark 4:3-9
“Listen! A sower went out to sow. Some seed fell on the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly. But on a hot day it withered away. Other seed fell among thorn bushes that grew tall and choked it, Other seed fell into good soil and brought forth grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirty and sixty and a hundredfold.” And he said, “Let anyone with ears to hear listen!”
FOLLOW ME
And Him evermore I beheld walking in Galilee,
Through the cornfield’s waving gold,
In hamlet, in wood, in wold,
By the shores of the Beautiful Sea.
He toucheth the sightless eyes,
Before Him the demons flee,
To the dead He sayeth, “Arise!”
To the living, “Follow me!”
And that voice shall still sound on
From the centuries that are gone
To the centuries that shall be.
by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Blessings to all,
Pastor Norm
