Dear Road Church Friends,

This year the Fourth Sunday of Advent and Christmas Eve fall on the same day. So, we will hold two services tomorrow (Sunday, December 24). We will gather at 10:00 am in our sanctuary to celebrate Advent. We will light the candle of Love and enjoy a Christmas Music concert by our music team and guests. Then we will make merry in the Parlor as we enjoy coffee, hot chocolate and Christmas treats. We will reassemble at 4:00 pm in our sanctuary for our traditional Christmas Eve service of carols and readings. Your presence at both services would the best Christmas gift of all.

SCRIPTURE:  Isaiah 9:2-7

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. We lived in a land of shadows, but now light is shining on us. Lord, you have given us great joy. We rejoice in what you have done. Behold! A child is born to us! A son is given to us! And he will be our ruler. He will be called, “Wonderful Counselor,” “Mighty God,” “Eternal Father,” “Prince of Peace.” His royal power will continue to grow; his kingdom will always be at peace. He will always be on the side of right and justice.

O Christmas, that your Gift of Gifts might be

Amongst us yet! as once in Galilee—

Telling of lilies, and of birds overhead—

Of little children and our daily bread—

To us, His humble fisher folk! make plain

The shining wonder of Himself again,

That we may touch the seamless garment’s rim

And be made whole, through the dear grace of Him!

Across the centuries that seem so far—

How close the Christ Child comes! how near the Star!

CHRISTMAS BENEDICTION

May the joy of the angels, the wonder of the shepherds, the perseverance of the Wise Men, the humble faith of Mary and Joseph, the love of God, the grace of Jesus Christ, and the peace of the Holy Spirit be yours this Christmas.    AMEN.
