December 31, 2022
Dear Road Church Friends,
I look forward to gathering with you on the first day of the New Year at our Communion service tomorrow morning. I can think of no better way to begin the year than communing with the Lord together around his table. Communion is a reminder that because of Jesus we are living in a time of God’s favor. NOTE: Our celebration of Communion and “Social Hour” will be held next Sunday, January 8th.
SCRIPTURE: Matthew 2: 12-23
Sermon: Christmas Is a Way of Life
NEW YEAR, HAIL! by Thomas Curtis Clark
New Year bright as dawning youth.
Bring us faith and love of truth,
Kindly thoughts of one and all,
Charity for those who fall,
Strength to help and zest to cheer,
Hope to banish doubt and fear.
Bring us quietness, content,
When your brimming months are spent.
Old Year, here is our farewell.
New Year, hail! We wish you well.
NEW YEAR’S DAY PRAYER by Dorothy Gould
God of our lives, O hear our prayer
As the New Year dawns and the Old Year goes.
Take from our hearts their load of care,
Give to our souls Thine own repose
As we lay aside our fear and grief,
Our countless failures, our spite and hate,
Give us Thy Spirit’s sure relief
As we ourselves deconsecrate.
O bright New Year, may we take your lead
Through the days to come with purpose true.
In life and thought, in word and deed,
May we trust the best the long year through.
May every day bring us calm content,
Knowing that God is ever near.
And when the precious months are spent
May we greet with Joy another year.
Best wishes for a blessed New Year to you all!
Pastor Norm
