There is so “Sermom” today. A Communion Meditation will be presented by Pastor Norm followed by Communion.

June 4, 2021

Dear Road Church Members and Friends,

I am pleased to say that our Sunday meeting, June 6, will be an in person communion service. Due to the Pandemic we have not had a communion service in our sanctuary since March 1, 2020. That was 15 months, or 450 days ago! Our hope is that this service will mark the beginning of a gradual return to pre-Pandemic days. Even though we have made masks and social distancing optional for the fully vaccinated, we will remain cautious because Covid-19 is not yet fully behind us. For the time being our 10 am Sunday meetings will continue in the abbreviated format of prayer, special music and a scripture message. From now on, first Sundays of each month will be a communion service. We will also continue to record our service for viewing at home, except for this Sunday.

We hope to see the full resumption of our Sunday service in September, including the return of our choir, congregational singing, and other social activities that have been an important facet of our church life. Meeting together for communion is one step closer to normalcy. I hope you will make plans to celebrate the Lord’s Supper in person with your church family this Sunday. Sealed Packets containing a wafer and communion cup will be available in the foyer of the church which you may take to your seat.

SCRIPTURE: Luke 22:8-20      COMMUNION MEDITATION TITLE: The Cup We Drink

Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and prepare the Passover meal for us that we may eat it.” They asked him, “Where do you want us to make preparations for it?” “Listen carefully. Go to Jerusalem. A man carrying a jar of water will greet you. He will lead you to a house. Find the owner and say, The teacher asks you, Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ He will show you a large room upstairs, already furnished. Make preparations for us there.” So they went and found everything as he had told them; and they prepared the Passover meal.

When the supper hour came, Jesus and the apostles took their places at the table. He said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.” Then he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” And he did the same with the cup after supper, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.”

THE SUMMER DAYS ARE COME AGAIN

The summer days are come again. Once more the glad earth yields

Her Golden wealth of ripening grain, And breath of clover fields,

And deepening shade of summer woods, And glow of summer air,

And winging thoughts, and happy moods of love and joy and prayer.

We know who giveth all the good that doth our cup o’erbrim,

For summer joy in field and wood we lift our song to Him.
