Dear Road Church Friends,
The Season of Advent marks the beginning of a new Church Year. Each of the four Sundays leading up to Christmas are dedicated to the themes of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. We have decided to celebrate the first Sunday of Advent with a medley of hopeful, joyful Christmas music performed and led by the very talented Michael Schiano. We will conclude our time together by sharing in the Lord’s Supper. Gather with us we enter into the spirit of Christmas together.
SCRIPTURE: Romans 15:7-9,12
Remember that Christ came to be a servant to the Jewish people to show that God is true to the promises he made to their ancestors. Christ also came so that the people of all nations might give glory to God for his mercies to them. This is what the psalmist meant when he wrote: “I will praise you among all the nations; I will sing praises to your name.” And in another place Isaiah said, “The heir to David’s throne will come, and he will rule over the nations. They will place their hope on him.
ADVENT PRAYER
We thank you Lord for this new church year and the season of Advent. Inspire us through the coming week to live lives that are filled with love for you and all mankind. Accept the praise and prayers we offer in this special place. We thank you for our church family, for the warmth of this church and it’s open, affirming spirit. Now make us glad with the yearly remembrance of the birth of Jesus, as we reaffirm the gift of hope, peace, joy and love we have through our faith in Jesus Christ. Amen
THAT HOLY THING
by George Macdonald
They all were looking for a king
To slay their foes and lift them high,
Thou com’st down Thine own secret stair,
Com’st down to answer all my need,
Yea, every bygone prayer!
Advent blessings to you all,
Pastor Norm
