Dear Road Church Friends,

Jesus had an eye for small things. He also had a heart to love and appreciate them. He drew the attention of his disciples to small things. He opened their eyes to things they hadn’t noticed before. When he saw his disciples shooing kids away, Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me. The kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” When he said your Heavenly Father’s loving eye is fixed even on sparrows, he meant God cares for things on which we place little value. When he said that faith the size of a tiny mustard seed can move a mountain, he recognized the power of the smallest things to influence, and even change the world. Children too have eyes to see the beauty of small things. What do they have to teach us? Gather with us on Sunday.

SERMON: The Beauty of Small Things

SCRIPTURE:  Mark 10:13-16

People were bringing their children to Jesus so he could bless them by placing his hands on them. But his disciples told the people to stop bothering him. Seeing this, Jesus became angry and said, “Let the children come to me! Don't try to stop them. People who are like these little children belong to the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God belongs to people who are like these children. Then Jesus continued to take the children in his arms and bless them.

A CHILDLIKE HEART

by Ellen Weston Catlin

The twinkling stars burn overhead

Above our homes at night,

Their gleaming, golden rays are shed

From stern majestic height.

Yet even humble doors may part

To let that clear light in,

For Christ has taught the childlike heart

That God and man are kin.

Blessings to you all

Pastor Norm
