Dear Road Church Friends,

Tomorrow’s message is about Paul’s philosophy of life. Paul wrote to his churches to answer their questions about the Christian Faith, but he often concluded his letters by sharing his practical wisdom about how to live a victorious Christian life. In Ephesians 5:15-17 Paul invites us to see our life as a “careful walk” through each of our days. Each step should be focused on making the most of the present moment, rather than being stuck in a nostalgic view of the past, or being fearful of what tomorrow might bring. As every new day dawns we must carefully weigh every step we take. A daily regimen of “careful walking” is the best strategy to overcome inertia, the most powerful force in the universe, that prevents us from achieving God’s will for our lives. Join us tomorrow to hear more of what Paul has to say about proactive wise living.

SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 5:15-21         SERMON: “Life is a Balancing Act”

Be careful how you live. Don’t be foolish. Be shrewd. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly. Try to understand what the Lord wants you to do with your life. Don’t get drunk on wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, do things that will fill you with the Holy Spirit. Sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves. Make music to the Lord in your hearts. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. And defer to one another out of reverence for Christ.

O BEAUTIFUL, MY COUNTRY

by Frederick L. Hosmer

O Beautiful, my country! Be thine a nobler care

Than all thy wealth of commerce, thy harvests waving fair:

Be it thy pride to cherish the manhood of the poor,

Be thou to the oppressed fair freedom’s open door!

For thee our fathers suffered, for thee they toiled and prayed;

Upon thy holy altar their willing lives they laid.

Thou hast no common birthright, grand memories on thee shine,

The blood of pilgrim nations commingled, flows with thine.

O Beautiful, our country! Round thee in love we draw,

Thine is the grace of freedom, the majesty of law.

Be righteousness thy scepter, justice thy diadem,

And on thy shining forehead be peace the crowning gem!

Blessings to you all,

Pastor Norm
