Dear Road Church Friends,

At the beginning of this week Barbara and I returned from our trip to Iowa where we closed a chapter in our lives in a memorial service for her parents who passed away last year. There were about 50 relatives and friends present who paid tribute to their lives. As memories were shared, we were reminded again and again how wonderful Barbara’s parents were. They were saints in the hearts and minds of everyone at the service.

November 1st is All Saints Day. This Sunday is a perfect opportunity for all of us to honor the saints in our lives. So, I’m asking all of you to email me the name(s) of people who helped or inspired you in some way, whether they are still living or not. I will include them in an All Saints Prayer that I will read at the conclusion of our service.

Thank you for your consideration of this request.

Blessings to you all,

Pastor Norm

SCRIPTURE:  Revelation 7:9-12      Sermon Title: Who Is Your Saint?

I saw a huge crowd, too many to count. They were from all nations and tribes, all races and languages. They were on their feet, facing the Lamb of God on his throne, dressed in white robes, waving palm branches and heartily singing: “Salvation to our God and to the Lamb!” Then all the hosts of heaven who were standing around the Throne fell on their faces and worshiped God, as they sang: “May the blessings and glory, wisdom and thanksgiving, as well as all honor, power and strength, be with our God forever and ever and ever! Amen and Amen!”

GOD’S SAINTS

God’s saints are shining lights, who stays, here long must pass

O’er dark hills, swift streams and steep ways as smooth as glass:

But these all night, like candles, shed their beams and light us into bed.

They are indeed our pillar fires seen as we go,

They are that city’s shining spires we travel to.
