This Sunday, October 11, 2020, my message title is, “He Emptied Himself.” The scripture reading is Philippians 2:1-11. In verse 6 it says that Jesus “emptied himself” of his heavenly power and glory and became one with us for our common good as human beings. His act of self-emptying is a model for us. That means we are to have “the mind of Christ.” We are not to be motivated by selfish ambition, but put the best interests of others ahead of ourselves. We will reflect on how we can translate the principle of self-emptying into our daily behavior.
